Distant communities share sport celebrationsWhether it’s at the annual Garnduwa Festival or at the annual Punmu Sports Carnival more than 1000km south, or in dozens of communities in between, Indigenous youth (and the not-so-young!) love their sport. The playing field is a place that binds them socially, challenges them competitively, and where new friends are found. Footy, basketball, softball and athletics are means by which they hone and demonstrate their outstanding natural skills. And, Newcrest is, with others, in the mix, providing resources and support to help them participate, and enjoy.
