INDIGENOUS employment opportunities are likely to increase following Pilbara Logistics’ success in securing a major three-year contract to maintain and repair Freedom Road, the 120km artery linking the Telfer mine site to Rippon Hills Road.

Pilbara Logistics has been the general services contractor at Telfer since mid-2005, and currently employs 12 Indigenous workers undertaking site maintenance services including waste removal and disposal, and road maintenance. The Company is committed to employing Indigenous workers where possible in all its operations. The new Telfer contract is certain to require the acquisition of more heavy machinery and equipment, and trained workers to operate and maintain it.
